Born in Pavia, December, 19th 1968. Laurea in Civil Engineering (1991) and Mathematics (1997), both summa cum laude, University of Pavia – Master of Science in Civil Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana Chamapign (1992) – Ph.D. in Structural Engineering (1995), Politecnico di Milano. Assistant Professor in Applied Mechanics (1994-2001) University of Pavia, Associate Professor in Mechanics of Solids and Structures (2001-present) University of Pavia. Habilitation for Full Professor in Mechanics of Solids and Strcutures (2017).

Paolo Venini’s research is focused on structural and topology optimization, finite elements and structural dynamics. Author of 37 papers on high impact factor international journals. Instructor of structural engineering classes on solid and structural mechanics. He is recipient of public as well as private funds in the areas of seismic rehabilitation of structures, fire design, finite elements analysis and design for electro-mechanical applications.

Paolo Venini works also as professional engineer as designer and clerk of works (structural engineering, seismic engineering, enviromental engineering, fire engineering, safety).
