The main objective of the course is to familiarize Structural Engineers with the various seismic isolationand dissipation systems that have demonstrated considerable potential through analytical studies, experimental testing and actual structural implementation. The discussion will focus on passive energy dissipation systems and base isolation systems.
Theoretical lectures will be complemented by tutorials(aiming at the practical application of the concepts and methods developed during the lectures through a retrofit project) and the topics that will be discussed in the course are reported in the following.
